F-One Bandit 3 test

Rory has given us his feedback on the F-One Bandit 3. - The no holds barred - straight from the horses mouth - with On beach input from Pebbles is...:

I've so far been out on the 7m twice and the 10m once. They are amazingly different from the Slingshots (both the RMP's and the Rev's)

Relaunch is crazy.
Even when the kite got wave bundled it popped back out and was back up in moments.
- the big wing tips on the Slingshot kites meant that if they got wave nailed, it was a disaster. I've had more than one drag by the kite to the beach before being able to re-launch.

They seem to fly faster in the sky.
They certainly turn a LOT faster, more a pivot on the centre of the kite than round the kite tips.
Per kite wind range is bigger.

I like that the depower is above the bar travel. On the Slingshot, the depower moved the depower cleat away from you ! Means fixed depower distance that's nice to be back on.
The biggest difference, that I'm going to have to get used to is the lack of pull and lack of instant power.
a) Lack of pull. Until the kite is properly moving through the sky (on a water start, this is quite a look way into the swoop) there is a LOT less pull than the Slingshots. And even once you have the kite and yourself moving at speed, the pull is a LOT less.
b) Lack of instant power. If I was off my board in front of a wave or similar, on the Slingshots a very small kite bar in or kite movement would give me an instant lump of pull and move me about. You've got to move the Bandits through the sky and get them up to speed before they deliver power. And as above, even then the bar pull is less than on the Slingshots.
That means that while riding, you can't be lazy, you have to keep your momentum / speed as if you loose it, it's not there for instant delivery back to you.
That does mean, that on Wednesday, the on-shore conditions at Fistral would have been a disaster for me on the Slingshots. But on the Bandits, push the bar up, and the kite was almost not there, for some riding down the waves, with the kite drifting nicely down wind with me.
So, yes I've got some adjustments to make, but stoked.
I also need to work out how to roll them down, as they seem to end up bulky in the bag. I think the strut join tubes are quite thin and kink more than on the Slingshot kites, so pushing the air out of the struts isn't as quick / easy.
